We decided to take a break from fundraising as it was getting pretty hectic flocking every night and getting ready for the holidays. The holidays are over and the new year is a great time to get back to it! Part of my new year's resolution is to stop drinking soda. I am a huge Diet Mountain Dew fan. I stopped drinking all soda as of Dec. 22nd with the hope to be over it by the new year. I am happy to say that I did not cheat once! Even when I was at work so tired I thought I was going to fall asleep (I work overnights as a nurse) and on New Years Eve (at work once again) and was offered some sparkling grape juice. Even after much persuasion I declined and drank my water. My body is very happy with the 100 oz + of water I give it a day! And it is sooo much better for me!!
I remember the 2007 3 Day I participated in with my girlfriend. I was drinking lots of water then during my training, but I still needed my morning caffeine to get me going. It was pretty rough going without it. I did run into the local gas station when I saw one and bought some bottles to carry with me. Pathetic isn't it! I wasn't the only one... I guess that makes me feel better to say that! :) I lost about 15 pounds training for the last walk and without my soda (and all the sodium that comes with it), plus my new diet plan decreasing calories and walking, walking, walking, I hope to get to my goal weight and my skinny jeans. I won't disclose how much I need to lose, but it is more than I lost last time. So far so good on the decreased calories too!
One of my Christmas gifts was a set of speakers for my double stroller that hook to my Itouch. I can not wait to use them! I love my music when I walk and I really wanted something that I could: a: listen to WITH the babies in order to distract them from the long miles and so that I could hear them without having one ear bud in and one out...and b: portable enough to bring on our next 3day walk! I listen to music on all my training walks and I can not imagine not having it on my actual walk. Actually, I can imagine it because I did walk in '07 too without music and some of the time was painfully quiet.
Looking for some new fundraising ideas. If you have any suggestions shoot them my way!!
